A few answers.

How to get started, revise a set, and keep your projects moving.

Getting started

What does SetDrawn make?

SetDrawn turns your plans, photos, and measurements into construction drawings: plans, elevations, sections, schedules, and rough-in locations. Companion sketches, watercolors, and renders use the same geometry as the linework.

What should I bring to a project?

Bring the architect’s plans, photos of the room, field measurements, your layouts, and the appliance and finish selections you have. Keep missing choices visible so they can be clarified before they are drawn.

Who is SetDrawn for?

The current beta is for interior designers working with a builder. The drawing and revision process is also relevant to millwork and stone shops, cabinet makers, general contractors, architects, and drafters.

Drawings & revisions

How do I request a change?

Open a sheet and pin your note to the exact spot, add typed notes, or upload a PDF you have marked up. Review the notes, edit anything that needs adjusting, and send them together as one revision request.

What happens if a note is unclear?

SetDrawn asks a question before changing the set. Choose one of the suggested answers or write your own. Nothing in the set changes until you answer.

Will I still have the old drawings?

Yes. Earlier revisions are kept and marked superseded. They remain available to download, so you can tell which set is current and see the project’s drawing history.

How do I know what changed?

Each issued revision includes a note-by-note list: your original note, what changed, and whether it was fixed, partly done, not done, or still needs an answer.

Palettes & progress

Can I save my own design palettes?

Yes. A palette is a complete finish collection: paint names and codes, stones, tile, flooring, cabinetry, hardware, fixtures, plumbing, lighting, appliances, textiles, and anything else. Each selection keeps its manufacturer, product code, finish or size, intended use, source link, and notes, and a category can hold several selections. Choose a saved palette when starting a project, and return to edit its selections.

What does Working show?

Working collects requests being processed across your projects: the stage each one has reached (read notes, draw, fit checks, issue set), its latest step and elapsed time. Queued requests and requests waiting on answers sit beside it.

What happens when the engine is offline?

Your request stays saved and in line. In the current beta, the drafting engine runs on the studio Mac; if it is asleep, processing begins when it wakes.

Using your set

Are these stamped permit drawings?

No. SetDrawn produces construction drawings, not architect- or engineer-stamped permit drawings. Every sheet is identified as “Prepared by SetDrawn · Not a stamped set.”

What gets checked before a set issues?

Cabinet runs, wall lengths, clearances, and other fit checks are reviewed. The set issues when its drawing issues are resolved and the required fit checks pass. Field dimensions still need to be verified before fabrication.
